Solo, Chamber Music, Art Song
Yuhao Guo studied piano with Nina Tichman and song accompaniment with Ulrich Eisenlohr at the Cologne University of Music and Dance. He is a scholarship holder of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben and the Werner Richard – Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation.
As a first prize winner of numerous competitions, including "Jugend musiziert," the Karlrobert Kreiten Competition, the Steinway Competition Düsseldorf, the Medenus Competition Rösrath, the Klassikpreis of the City of Münster, and the WDR Competition, Yuhao Guo has performed in prestigious concert halls such as the Cologne and Essen Philharmonies, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, as well as in various cities in Europe and the USA.
As a soloist, he has performed with leading orchestras such as the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, the German String Philharmonic, the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt/Oder, the Duisburg Philharmonic, and the Flora Symphony Orchestra Cologne.
Yuhao Guo has been a guest artist multiple times at the Ruhr Piano Festival and the "Sommerclassics" Festival at Burg Namedy Castle.
As a song accompanist, he won the prize for the best pianist at the "Das Lied" competition of the Heidelberg Spring in 2023. He has also performed at the Oxford Lieder Festival and the Southwold Arts Festival in the UK. Additionally, he served as a répétiteur for the vocal class of Christoph Prégardien in Cologne and acts as the musical director for various projects of the Opernwerkstatt am Rhein.
Since 2024, Yuhao Guo has been teaching accompaniment at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf.
His discography includes recordings of Schubert's Winterreise as well as English songs with Benjamin Hewat-Craw, suites for two pianos with Anke Pan, and the album Mythen with violinist Linda Guo.
As a composer, Yuhao Guo has written works for various ensembles, including solo piano, two pianos, chamber music, and songs. His compositions, including Suite op. 30 and Ballade op. 29, have been released on two CDs.
His musical development has been shaped by masterclasses with renowned pianists such as Jerome Rose, Andrzej Jasinski, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Seymour Bernstein, Claudio Martinez-Mehner, Anthony Spiri, Eric Schneider, Alexander Lonquich, and others. Composer collaborations, especially with Manfred Trojahn and Johannes Schild, have greatly influenced his compositions.
Additionally, Yuhao Guo serves as a jury member for the "Jugend musiziert" competition.
